Dr Eugene Hughes is a highly experienced clinical psychotherapist with a distinguished career spanning private practice, organisational development, and academia. He brings over two decades of clinical experience, helping adults navigate some of life’s most challenging psychological experiences so that they can live more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Dr Hughes has extensive experience working clinically with adults presenting a range of issues including, acute and chronic anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, loss of sense of self, gender-related issues, and difficult life transitions. His approach combines in-depth exploration of each person’s difficulties with practical work that supports new ways of thinking, behaving, and acting, enabling sustained psychological change.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Hughes lectures internationally at institutions including Johns Hopkins University (USA) and St Catherine’s College, Oxford (UK). He is also the founder of Artgym, a multi-award-winning consultancy that uses behavioural science to promote mental health and wellbeing in higher education and in the workplace.
Dr Hughes has published in major academic publications. His latest book with Bloomsbury Academic presents his landmark discoveries on psychological benefits of spending time alone in nature.
