Alison is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist and has specialist expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of adult autism. She is regarded as a compassionate doctor who is focused on delivering neuroaffirmative assessment by understanding and supporting the experience of each individual. Alison provides a careful, accurate and thoughtful assessment with individualised recommendations. She has significant experience in the interplay of autism and other divergent neurotypes such as ADHD, and co-occurring mental and physical health conditions. She understands different autistic presentations and is mindful of gender identity and masking.
Alison read Medicine at University of Cambridge before completing her studies at University College London. She trained as a doctor in Oxford, specialised in psychiatry in the Oxford Deanery, and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2014. Alison has been awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and is listed on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry.
Beyond her private practice, Alison has previously worked as a Clinical Lead for an NHS Adult Autism Diagnostic Service. Alison was a lecturer and mentor for the National Autism Training Programme for Psychiatrists. She is an active member of the Executive Committee of the RCPsych Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Special Interest Group.
